Sandhill Crane
A pair of sandhill cranes visited my neighborhood in late winter and I saw them as I was on my way out to look for white pelicans. I stopped the car, grabbed my camera and the 100-400mm lens, and made my way down the opposite side of the road from where they were feeding. As long as I stood on the other side of the road, they were happy to look for food and amble down the sidewalk. Also, standing where I was helped prevent them from flying toward the busy road if they took flight. This picture shows one of them keeping a close eye on me while the other is rooting through the grass. After getting some good shots, I left them to continue looking for bugs in the grass.
